The Centenary of the ephemeris: canons, identities and oblivions. Beethoven, 250

Following the topic set for the “XVI Jornades AVAMUS de Musicologia”, the journal Quadrivium is pleased to announce an issue titled «The Centenary of the ephemeris: canons, identities and oblivions. Beethoven, 250».

The Editorial Board encourages to participate in this issue that will be published in fourth quarter of the year. The issue will also include articles concerning music, culture and society related to Beethoven, as well as articles with a wider and more varied topic.

Some of these central topics, without discarding others, would be: Beethoven’s presence in the Valencian and Spanish music experience; the celebration of previous Beethovenian centenaries (1920, 1927, 1970, 1977); the existence, or not, about a possible Valencian music canon; the presence of Valencian composers in the Spanish and European music canon; the ephemeris concept and the mechanisms that govern it; recent, past and future ephemeris of other important artists.

Articles (between 4000 to 8000 words in length) can be written in Catalan, Spanish or English, according journal editorial guidelines. Authors must provide an abstract with no more than 200 words and three keywords. Submissions that do not comply with the Editorial Guidelines may be returned to the author. Before the first evaluation of the Editorial Board, manuscripts initiate the blind peer review process.

The Editorial Board also recalls that Quadrivium accepts other musicological proposals which will be part of the «Miscel·lània» section.

Deadline will be 30th September 2020. Proposals should be sent to quadrivium.avamus@gmail.com following instructions of editorial guidelines.

Quadrivium is an annually online, peer-reviewed journal, published by Associació Valenciana de Musicologia (AVAMUS. ISSN 1989-8851). The journal accepts submissions for research articles in any field of the musicology. The journal is addressed to scholars and students in musicology and its aim is to unveil new studies in musicology.
